Nurturing a Resilient Earth

The Nurturing a Resilient Earth campaign highlights the pivotal role CIFAR's community is playing in navigating the realities of climate change. Through innovative research and collaborative efforts, CIFAR and its researcher community are working to develop strategies that address these challenges and support global society in adapting and thriving despite the evolving climate.

As the Creative Director for the Nurturing a Resilient Earth campaign, I was responsible for overseeing the entire visual and conceptual direction of the project. This included guiding the design and marketing strategy and ensuring the web design effectively communicated the campaign's themes. In addition to my role in the actual production of designs, I also managed a designer who was responsible for developing video graphics for web and social media. I ensured their work aligned with the campaign's overall aesthetic and message. My responsibilities encompassed crafting print and digital elements, maintaining design consistency, and leveraging both creativity and technical expertise to bring the project to life.

This campaign won an IABC Award of Excellence in the Non-profit Campaigns category and a Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Achieving Communications Excellence (ACE) Awards in the Best Cause-related Campaign category.

As the web designer, I focused on creating a user-friendly and visually compelling digital experience, integrating each feature article into a cohesive online platform.

The web design was meticulously crafted to spotlight each feature article in a unified and engaging platform. The design employs a clean, intuitive layout that seamlessly integrates visual elements with rich content, ensuring that each article stands out while contributing to a cohesive narrative. Prominent, eye-catching headers and interactive elements guide users through a dynamic journey. The webpage also adheres to AODA guidelines.

The booklet created for the Nurturing a Resilient Earth campaign was a key tool for engaging donors and members of the CIFAR community. It featured succinct versions of the campaign’s feature articles, offering a snapshot of the impactful research and initiatives. Designed with a compelling visual approach, the booklet included large, striking photographs that highlighted the dedicated individuals driving these efforts. Readers were encouraged to explore the full articles online and were also directed to contribute to our Resilient Earth Fund, reinforcing the call to support ongoing climate resilience work. This thoughtfully designed booklet served not only to inform but also to inspire action and deepen engagement with our mission.

A short promo video for the Nurturing a Resilient Earth campaign was crafted to vividly encapsulate our mission and convey the critical message of addressing climate change. As the Creative Director, I provided strategic oversight and creative direction, ensuring that the video aligned seamlessly with our campaign’s objectives. While I did not handle the production, I was instrumental in guiding the overall vision, shaping the narrative, and refining the visual elements to ensure a powerful impact. Additionally, shorter cuts of the video were created specifically for social media, designed to engage audiences quickly and effectively across various platforms, amplifying the campaign’s reach and resonance.
